Wow, what a beautiful photo taken by our Growing Together Programme Manager, Katie!

This truly captures the whimsicalness of a woodland.

Conifer Mazegill (Gloeophyllum sepiarium) is described as "common worldwide" but this from near Coniston a few days ago is the first time I've noticed it. Love the colour scheme 😍 #FungiFriday

Several layers of bracket fungus growing out from the end of a cut conifer trunk, surrounded by heath vegetation including the brown remains of Heather flowers. The fungus brackets are a rich dark reddish-brown in the centre, gradually becoming lighter and brighter to orange and yellow at the edge.

#FungiFriday from the forest floor 🍄‍🟫

#ForestFriday #mushroom #photography #nature

Looking up from the forest floor at a slender mushroom rising out of bright green moss, its wavy cap lit from behind so the gills glow amber where they meet the stem. A smaller, darker mushroom stands just behind it to the left, and sword fern fronds and soft, out-of-focus evergreens fill the pale sky above.

What a stunner! I believe it’s a Warted Amanita. The cyclamen gives a size perspective. Happy Friday all.

Large whiteish mushroom with wart like marks on top and a thick white stem. About 2.5 times the height of the nearby pink cyclamen. I believe it’s a Warted Amanita. Photographed in Walmer Castle Gardens, Kent

A harts-tongue ferns, lots of moss and a mass of honey fungus (probably, or maybe velvet shank) quietly busy turning rotting logs back into soil 🌱🍄

Bright yellow mushroom among the decaying leaves. Norwich VT, September 2026

#ECK #Photography #PhotographersOfBluesky #Scape #Landscape #Nature #ForestFriday #FungiFriday #FungiFriends

This image shows a bright yellow mushroom, probably an amanita of some sort, growing among decaying leaves, wood chips, and branches. The mushroom rises from the forest floor about a third of the way from the bottom of the frame, and a little right of center. We have a lovely view of its rough white stalk and striking yellow cap with jagged white protrusions sticking out of it. At the very top of the mushroom the cap becomes blushed with red. A brown oak leaf sits at the base of the stalk, running over to the left border of the image. The image is otherwise filled with reddish brown wood chips, and dark brown twigs, and is finished by bluish-black patches where the morning light reflects off their damp surfaces.
