@lieutenant-columbo.bsky.socialIn "Publish or Perish" #Columbo joins Jeffrey Neal and Eileen McRae at Chasen's to ask a few questions. He horrifies the waiter by ordering chili. That was a bit of a Hollywood joke; in reality Chasen's was famous for its chili.
@gottobedrifting.bsky.socialMckechnie/Cash - Friday 12th September 2003
This all vinyl Johnny Cash mix was recorded the day The Man In Black died.
At the time I gave the mix out on CD, here it is again.
@lieutenant-columbo.bsky.socialTimothy Carey made his #Columbo debut in "Ransom for a Dead Man" as Bert the chili cook. He makes a few more appearances in future episodes, pretty much always as a cook or deli owner.
@gaghyogi49.bsky.socialMy buddy Timo and I watched the #Columbo episode "A Trace of Murder"⬇️ a couple of days ago and I immediately noticed that the house of murder victim Howard Seltzer seemed familiar: Turns out the same location was used for the Columbo episode and the Picard family home in #StarTrekTNG's "Family"⬆️.😊
@lieutenant-columbo.bsky.socialIn "Swan Song" Tommy Brown refers to his plane as "that old crate" but actually his plane in that episode is only about 3 years old. #Columbo
@dt75art.bsky.social"Just one more thing...."
screencap study from #columbo
@lieutenant-columbo.bsky.socialIn "Prescription Murder" Joan Hudson lives in Stahl House - it's a legendary piece of Hollywood Architecture, and a multi-million dollar house. Seems extravagent for a bit part actress. #Columbo
@lieutenant-columbo.bsky.social"Etude in Black" just started on Universal Crime. It's my #8 ranked #Columbo episode. Nice chemistry between Falk and his good friend Cassavetes.
@lieutenant-columbo.bsky.socialI am continually improving and updating the #Columbo episode guides, by the way. Adding more content, more images, more (hopefully) useful links. I'm going to start linking to more video too.
If you have a favorite episode you might want to re-check the guide occasionally to see what's new. :-)
@lieutenant-columbo.bsky.socialThis question comes up from time to time and I just saw it posted again so...here you go. #Columbo's first name is the matter of some legitimate disagreement.
@lieutenant-columbo.bsky.socialWhile you're looking at Diamond and Wheeler in this scene you might not have noticed the fellow in the grey jacket...he's the Legendary Michael Lally, who appeared in more #Columbo episodes than anybody but Peter Falk.
@lieutenant-columbo.bsky.socialMy notes break #Columbo down into 13 seasons, though I know that isn't universally recognized. Especially towards the end of the ABC era it ceased to be "seasons" the way Americans usually think of them, and just became a couple of TV movies a year.
@lieutenant-columbo.bsky.social"A Trace of Murder" features the return, in a very different role, of an actress who last appeared on #Columbo all the way back in season 4!
@lieutenant-columbo.bsky.social"Suitable for Framing" has the fastest on-screen murder in the entire #Columbo series. Just 55 seconds in.
@lieutenant-columbo.bsky.socialWe lost Lance LeGault 14 years ago today. He was the gruff police captain in "No Time to Die". Beyond #Columbo he had a pretty interesting career.
@planetcarnival.bsky.social#Columbo is formulaic, almost (but not quite) to the point of parody. That is not a bad thing; in a way it's a virtue in the world of detective fiction.
But almost every time, the show ends with the lieutenant explaining to the murderer precisely how he ascertained their guilt...
@planetcarnival.bsky.socialI've really been enjoying my #Columbo journey. But watching those early episodes really drives home the fact that the LAW & ORDER franchise set a high bar that all earlier police procedurals never matched...
@lieutenant-columbo.bsky.socialHappy birthday to Columni Darrell Zwerling. If you're not sure what episode he was in...you can look that up. #Columbo
@lieutenant-columbo.bsky.socialJane Greer's birthday has never disappointed her. If it ever does...god help it. #Columbo
