Today’s topic: personnel leadership. The rights and responsibilities of a command officer, how to lead a team, and, perhaps most importantly, how to take responsibility for the people under your command.
A lot to learn.

We sent the only person who could solve the problem to their death, and that choice saved the rest of the crew.
It was only a training exercise, but it felt horribly real. I really hope I never have to make a decision like that for real.
We’re having fun, but we’re here to learn.
Today our teams got a technical problem to solve and difficult decisions to make.
One option could mean sacrificing a crew member to save everyone else.
Suddenly, this feels very real.
Teamwork today! Learning together, helping each other, and hopefully becoming better officers along the way.
It’s always more fun when you’re not doing it alone. 🖖

The Vulcan officer surprised me today. She told me she finds it unfortunate that my Human genes are considered a disadvantage.
I’m only here because of those very genes.
I honestly didn’t expect that from her. Maybe I misjudged her after all.
I think the Vulcan officer doesn’t like me. At least, she keeps giving me these incredibly cold looks.
I know Vulcans don’t usually show emotions… but somehow, I have a feeling about this one.
The first week is all theory, then the practical exercises begin. Christine and I are both highly motivated.
You can already tell she wants to go far.
Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Captain’s chair is waiting for her someday. :)

Study, study, study. That’s pretty much my life right now.
At least Christine is sitting next to me, so I’m not suffering through all of this alone 🙂
Christine and I explored the city today. Zürich is pretty amazing!
But I’m definitely going to use my three months on Earth to see more.
London, the Grand Canyon… and probably a few places I haven’t even thought of yet.
T’Vala, realistically rendered.
I think I'll only use this render style next week.
Realistic instead of a comic-book look
I met Christine today! She’s an officer aboard the USS Shran and is training to become their first officer. She’s really nice, and we even live next door to each other here.
We’re heading into the city together later. 😊
I’ve met a few people already. Most seem very career-focused. So far, the material is pretty easy to absorb. Vulcan brain FTW! 😄
There’s a Vulcan woman here too. She gave me a very dismissive look. Brr… not exactly welcoming.
And now it begins. I feel a little out of place. Everyone here seems to have a higher rank than me, and I don’t know anyone yet.
But hey… it’s only Day One. I’ll find my place. 🖖
New day! Before training begins, I headed into the city early this morning to explore a little.
Wow… Zürich is beautiful. I think I’m going to enjoy my three months here very much.
