For reference the mechanic thing is a screencap of a preview I don't have the book yet.

Also the mechanic does have several strengths the inventor doesn't I'm not saying it's worse.

The "look what they need to mimic a fraction of our power" meme but point out that Mechanic's err... mechanic to add INT to damage is lower duration than Overdrive until they take a level 10 feat.

And of course there's the flood of people saying the #starfinder2e Mechanic is a better Inventor than the #pathfinder2e Inventor based entirely on Modify.

Which to be fair is likely the class fantasy they wanted from Inventor so more power to them.
