Even to myself.

if I didn’t know poets
who care about me
and the words we share in spite
of the pedophile dictator
who wants to turn
the people of all nations
and half of my nation
against me
I am grateful for our better natures

Some #pirates
are gentlemen
others are rogues
still others
somewhere in between
gone are the days
plunder on the open seas
three hundred or so years
too late

bright saffron yellow
how I miss it
my father's cooking!
the sight and smell
of delicious food
seafood and chicken
so many varieties
to fill the stomach
and ease the mind!
