I could never pick my favorite poem, but I am sharing Cuttings, by Theodore Roethke, as well as my poem, Still Life Lady’s Slipper and Glass, from my book, 539. It is one of several poems I have written for my friend who died in 1986.

For #NationalPoetryDay on the theme of Wonder, here's one of Peter Riley's 'Excavations', a fascinating set of "meditations/constructions on 19th century excavation reports of the contents of prehistoric burial mounds in northern England", which turns the archaeological text into something numinous:
We will smash the old world
wildly
we will thunder
a new myth over the world.
We will trample the fence
of time beneath our feet.
We will make a musical scale
of the rainbow.
- Mayakovsky, from the 150,000,000

Silhouette. For what I'm 98% sure is #nationalpoetryday
Oh it's #NationalPoetryDay again. With the theme of wonder. I guess poetry involves quite a bit of wondering. Sometimes at wonderful things. Sometimes just .. wondering, when, if, whether, for what. The first poem I got to know, I think, was Blake's Tiger. That is a poem of wonder, and of wondering.
Dunno if this is my favorite, or best (as there is little distance between my best and worst). But it is my Braveheart speech to poets and creators all. ❤️

“In this sometimes uncertain path, I've discovered what home means."
This #NationalPoetryDay, watch our former guest Ismael’s moving performance of 'Home', his beautiful poem about separation, uncertainty and refuge.

Happy October and #NationalPoetryDay!🍂🍁
As an old tradition and a memory of a happier time - here is my #NationalPoetryDay Tweet:
I need some more room
To open up and confess
The character limit is too tight
For my soul to undress
But I’ll expose what I can
with 140 or less
Take some time to wonder this #nationalpoetryday

Fab launch events for the Ballad of Salt and Stone. This was a really fun project to get involved with, so thank you Digital Drama, @heritagefunduk.bsky.social and the local communities who came together to rewrite a bit of history! We'll be sharing it online soon... #NationalPoetryDay
