THE STORY
The Empire had long ago crumbled to dust, stony echoes dotting the landscape, but the passion in T’ika’s blood had not been quelled, merely quieted, awaiting its time.
The girl was small, but fleet of foot, and she was largely immune to the sharp stones as she sprinted across the crest of the cliff. She was late.
Distracted as she was, however, nothing escaped her attention. Not the iguanas scurrying into the thorny plants. Not the soaring clouds of frigate birds.
They were her teachers. They and the other animals guided her path forward.
A hundred meters from the long-discarded temple, T’ika slowed her pace and calmed her breathing.
Under the breeze, she could just make out… voices. Voices foreign to her ear.

When I doodled like this as a young teenager, I was unaware that it was a special ability.

Only later in life did I become aware that most people were denied this freedom.

And later still, to learn of #aphantasia

Isn't the #universe fascinating? It comes with beautiful galactic #nebula and #origami boxes, both with endless possibilities. I added only one purple #star and leave the rest to your #imagination.

THE STORY
It has not been a good week for Harry, but seriously, he cried to himself.
Every Spring, Harry had been the first one to find a mate, his muscular build and sleek lines attracting all the females in the area, so he always had his pick.
And those same muscles ensured any unthinking rivals were quickly sent packing to another part of the river.
Life truly was paradise for Harry. Well, it had been.
A construction project meant the City was rerouting part of the river – Harry’s personal playground – and the chaos made it virtually impossible to hook up.
It also forced Harry into a different part of the river, where this big feathered freak was looking for an afternoon snack.
No, not a good week for Harry.

THE PHOTO
A house centipede does battle with a much smaller, brown spider on a Spanish tile floor. (Photo via @createdbyrcw)

THE STORY
The spider had been cautious, sticking to the baseboards among the dust, hair and other human detritus of the laundry room.
For many months, this worked as the spider’s sow bug prey also kept to the shadowed edges and crevices.
Life was good, until the broom. Suddenly, caught in a tumble of dust and dirt, the spider was dragged to the middle of the floor.
Disentangling itself, the arachnid fled to the wall. Almost there. A few more…
BAM!
As if dropped from the ceiling, the house centipede swarmed the arachnid, a thrashing battle of legs and mandibles. The spider fights ferociously but the multi-limbed onslaught quickly proves too much.

A silhouette of a child joyfully swings over a calm lake with a rustic house in the background. Text overlays capture a sense of imagination.

The only thing that ever flew higher than that swing was my imagination. How many of us can say we were allowed to just play outside and be bored? Wasn't it wonderful to be a little bored? It fostered our imaginations to soar as we swung higher and higher. I remember being on the swing staring at the clouds and sun and wondering everything I could about them. I loved seeing things, faces in the clouds. This piece portrays a silhouetted child as many of us had those short pixie cuts in the sixties. LOL...remember those cuts. My mom was showing us pictures of when we were growing up and our bangs....so crooked, we laughed knowing Mom just cut away to save time....LOL. Hope you enjoy my art as much as I enjoy creating it. Love and Blessings~~ Laurie
