WATCH: #illini offensive coordinator Barry Lunney Jr. reviews the Illini's disappointing homecoming loss to Purdue and previews Saturday's game at Michigan State

#illini Bret Bielema: I've been doing this a long time. There isn't going to be anything that I'm going to change that I did in the last five weeks or last 17 years. That's why you coach.

#illini Bret Bielema: The run game feeds everything else. Liked some outside runs but inside zone run didn't go well.

#illini Bret Bielema: Wanted to empower Robby Hauck's voice as safeties coach. Ronnie Bradford is still with us, so he's focused more on special teams now.

#illini Bret Bielema: Haave thought Cooper could call this defense well. Probably frustrating for him to watch the previous four games from his perspective.

#illini Bret Bielema: Barry Lunney was as hard on himself as anyone after last week.

#illini Bret Bielema: Ca'Lil Valentine will have season-ending surgery. Will have him back for the summer. Thoughts and prayers out to him and his family.

Javari Barnett will step into bigger role if he practices well.

#illini Bret Bielema: We're 2-3 football program that lost two games that we could've won if we executed better.

Bottom line, we're not. The thing we can't do is let that make us fall to a lower place.

#illini Roger Cooper: The communication piece was cleaner with me calling plays directly to green dot. It cut the time down on communication.

Likes calling from the press box because it removes emotion from decisions. Wears two headsets so he can't hear anything else.

#illini Roger Cooper on Hauck leaving: It was exciting. It was sad. A lot changed in that moment. Still processing but adjusting.

#illini Roger Cooper: We do stunts really well. We do movement well but need to improve technique.

#illini Roger Cooper said the goal is to get the guys to play faster. If you give them too much, it can be paralysis by analysis.

Cut DBOs (don't beat ourselves) plays from the 20s to 9. Gave up too many explosive plays though.

#illini Roger Cooper on last week: "It was a lot. We really just put our head down and worked as a defensive staff and came up with a plan and a blueprint for what we wanted to accomplish."

#illini OC Barry Lunney Jr.: "Whenever you affect the game negatively as a play-caller, that's a bad feeling." Felt that way after the first drive.
