grew up poor
unaware we were poor—
Willow Avenue

#senryu #hiraku

on a hot day
leaving the laundry undone
more beer

#senryu #hiraku

behind
the willow trees
disappointment

#senryu #hiraku

closing my umbrella
in the rain
there's no one to see

#senryu #hiraku

only the simple...
burning a candle
near my potted plant

#senryu #hiraku

operating
on a few hours of sleep
derailed train

#senryu #hiraku

drying pottery
my senryu are born
fully formed

#senryu #hiraku

several rainless months...
food prices too high to cope

#senryu #hiraku

battered coastline
he celebrates another
birthday alone

#senryu #hiraku

along the continuum
realization
i'm an imposter

#senryu #hiraku

pheasant's eye flower—
high heat and i
dislike my boyfriend

#senryu #hiraku

no one in my arms
the pillow has grown quite warm

#senryu #hiraku

summer mud...
our separation left untouched
by drought

#senryu #hiraku

sputtering candle
the foolish things i do
when whimsy hits

#senryu #hiraku

ripped page
out of "Tale of Genji"
5th year of unhappiness

#senryu #hiraku

buying body wash
the things i've forgotten
over the years

#senryu #hiraku

letter to the Archdiocese...
no longterm winter this year

#senryu #hiraku

visiting a teahouse
warmth of a
faraway booth

#senryu #hiraku

boiling eucalyptus
he looks good
in denim jeans

#senryu #hiraku

orange rinds in the sink...
he returns
from the gym
