ANSP 22341, an unassuming slab from the Famennian Catskill Formation with portions of a few articulated lobe-finned fishes (Holoptychius) and a placoderm (Bothriolepis). Special to me as the first fossil I found to end up in a museum, collected during the first summer of my PhD. #FossilFriday

For #fossilfriday I’d like to upload this fossil of Dactylioceras! I confess this was a gift from a friend rather than my own find. This taxon is one of the most well-known ammonites fRom Yorkshire but can be found in Early Jurassic lithologies across the world! Certainly a lovely specimen.
What a find! Scientists discover a remarkably well-preserved bird feather in dinosaur coprolite. Beyond the gorgeous feather find though, they were able to assess through micro-CT scanning that a dinosaur ate the bird and the bird ate a fish. www.abc.net.au/news/science... #FossilFriday #paleo
