I tried to capture this skipper butterfly several times before, and finally did it!

A close-up profile shot of a tawny-brown skipper butterfly perched on the dark, textured cone center of a spent Black-eyed Susan flower.

A large, fuzzy bumblebee is actively foraging on a cluster of tiny white oregano flowers. The bee features a distinct yellow band across its upper thorax, while the rest of its body is deep black, and its translucent wings are outstretched as it grips the blossoms. The background is a soft, blurred mix of lush green foliage and additional small flower buds.

Macro of a Hawaiian beet webworm moth in a head-on portrait. Facing directly forward, she has large, prominent patterned compound eyes and a dark brown face with fine, pale scales lining her vertex. Her long, slender antennae extend upward and back out of the frame. Her folded wings show rich dark brown margins and a hint of a bold, bright white structural band cutting through the dark coloration. The subject focused against the rich texture of a dried brown Bidens alba seed head and soft background bokeh.

A horizontal photograph capturing two Canada geese in synchronized flight across a pale, overcast autumn sky. The geese are positioned in the upper portion of the frame, angled upward and flying toward the right with wings outstretched, their distinctive dark necks and white cheek patches silhouetted against the clouds. Below, a calm, rippling body of water meets a low, narrow shoreline with subtle winter trees and dark coastal brush along the horizon. The composition balances quiet negative space with the natural momentum of migration, evoking themes of movement and seasonal return.

A siskin in a pine tree in the forest. They are called "green siskin" in Norwegian, but it looks yellow to me, especially in this plumage, and is a close relative of the goldfinch.
