The Kamekichi co-parent thing is a nice original touch that connects them through the distance. The phone call was sweet too; Shiono teasing the one he loves, Takoi being much more direct here - he's still like tsuntsundere at this point than in the manga

A different set of emotions and issues to overcome now that they’re together. And I like Takoi’s journey to queer acceptance - it feels natural, with realistic ups and downs.
