A female Hooded Merganser duck with a grayish brown body, a reddish-brown crest on her head, a white belly, and a narrow yellow gray bill. She was standing on top of a light brown wooden duck box in the blue and green water of the marsh. There were green lily pads with yellow flowers past the blue water, and a reflection of the duck box in the water. Seen at Stony Brook Wildlife Sanctuary in Norfolk, Massachusetts.

An Osprey has emerged from the water off the coast of Gooseberry Island. Its talons are empty and water is pouring off its body. The wet wings are shedding droplets as well.

Here's an Eider Duck pair paddling in an Icelandic fjord for today's #BirdOfTheDay theme, #BlueWater, birds surrounded by blue water.

Two large sea ducks gliding through softly rippled blue water. The lead duck is a male with a mostly white body with black trim on the sides, head and tail and a pale greenish color on his neck. The trailing female is mostly brown with darker barring in her feathers. Both have a distinctive sloped head profile.
