Councillor Gardiner deserves credit for penning the WORST member motion I have ever seen. Pure political trash, and completely nonsensical if you can stand to read the details. Bad governance at its very worst. Complete rejection is the best thing council could have done.

Oh Marg - You'd be scarey if you weren't so unlikable and ineffective. #yyj #yyjpoli - I'd LOVE to see effective opposition on council but this is just facebook psychosis writ large.

To: Committee of the Whole Date: September 25th, 2026
From: Councillor Gardiner
Subject: Transparency and Election Endorsements
BACKGROUND
The general public has a need to know. A right to know who is pulling the strings of those who are charged
with the responsibility of making decisions on matters which affect their daily lives: housing, public safety,
taxation.
This Council has begun but not completed steps to create a more open city. Relationships with special interest
groups have not been openly acknowledged. Such relationships going beyond pecuniary interest. Does the
role of a spouse, including employment, come into play? Should a Councillor who has made an oath to
another form of government be involved in discussions about that other form of government?
RECOMMENDATIONS
That Council members declare their relationships with any unions and other third-party organization which
are taking a role in the 2026 municipal or provincial election.
That Council members declare their membership in any political party at the provincial and/or federal level
of government.
That Council members declare their membership with any lobbyist organization.
Respectfully submitted,

Only 26 MPs voted against the Bill at this first vote. From what I saw, it was entirely NDP, Bloc and Green who opposed it. Conservatives and Liberals all appeared to vote for it. Those 14 Liberals who claimed to care about the environment……very curious where your spine is?

What the fuck is this? Meeting canceled because they can't get a quorum? Are Victoria councillors too busy campaigning to do the job they were hired to do?
