#TheDragonblood: Let's start with transportation to and from Zonhaspalis.

There's the portal hub, where people can teleport to and from other cities around Nemoria.

Portals work best when there's the same amount of mass entering as leaving, so they try to ensure that happens.

#TheDragonblood: The oceans are home to merfolk. Otherwise, the contents of the oceans are pretty standard as far as I've decided.

#ThroughTheCracks: Earth's oceans have taken a hit, and are home to much less diversity of species.

#TheDragonblood: Does Felix need a hug for having to face a world that doesn't see them as a person? Aimetor for having to face one that will only ever see them as a trickster? I guess I'll let the reader decide.

#TheDragonblood: Of the Nemorian gods, I haven't really associated any of them with the sea. Amfrobena, goddess of nature and weather, may be our closest.

I haven't decided who the merfolk worship, if anyone. Perhaps they worship Amfrobena as a (part-time) sea goddess.

#TheDragonblood: We figured out some idea of the size of Zonhaspalis during fashion day, randomly. About a kilometre, maybe two, in diameter.

There is no room for expansion. However much land was raised into the air is how much they have.

#TheDragonblood: I hope people don't want to punch Felix!

Aimetor, before they change their views about the Soulless? Eh, go ahead.

Laannig? Well, once he gets introduced, perhaps.

#TheDragonblood: It really depends on what version I use and how I count. So here's as good of an answer as any, I suppose. Screenshot of page 10 on my eBook version on my phone with current settings. Counting a dialogue quote as a single line.

“That’s exactly what I mean. Now roll.”
	“These numbers…” I start.
	“They’re your next five die rolls,” Sabrina confirms. Impossible.
	Well, there’s only one way to know for sure. I pick up the die and start rolling.
	Seventeen. A chance in twenty, but it doesn’t mean anything yet. I roll again. Five. A chance in four hundred, but by no means impossible. Nine. A chance in eight thousand. Maybe she is telling the truth. Twelve. A chance in a hundred and sixty thousand. One last roll. Fourteen. A chance in three-point-two million! Well over five-sigma. No way!
	I think it through. I’m the one with the die. It’s my die. No way it could be rigged. Unless she somehow replaced it with an indistinguishable one under my very nose. But even if the die were weighted toward the numbers she gave me, she still wouldn’t have been able to predict all five numbers. But maybe she wouldn’t reach five-sigma.
	“Give me more numbers,” I say. “I want to be absolutely sure.”
	Sabrina writes down five more numbers. I roll the die, and all of them check out. That’s… I don’t want to do the math in my head, but I’m pretty sure she’s passed the five-sigma mark even if the die were weighted.

#TheDragonblood: Zonhaspalis worships primarily Palnator, so the main holiday dedicated to Palnator would be a big celebration in Zonhaspalis.

It's celebrated elsewhere in Nemoria, too, but it'd be biggest here.

#TheDragonblood: As a Nemorian city, Zonhaspalis broadly follows Nemorian fashion, which means lots of dresses, and you're unlikely to find trousers anywhere.

Now, further fashion trends will depend on how cold it is in Zonhaspalis.

#TheDragonblood: The Souled are immune to psychoactive substances, unless they specifically lower their souls' natural defences. As such, alcoholic and caffeinated drinks are uncommon in Nemoria, except for a small druggie subculture that do lower their souls' defences.

#TheDragonblood: Felix has perhaps a bit of a friendly rivalry with their friend Brett from the D&D group and their physics classes. I've discussed their debate on quantum interpretations.

#TheDragonblood has a concept of fate, but it's not so much "some cosmic entity has ordained that things happen this way", but rather just the way I think probabilities would actually work in a world with time travel.

Actually, I recently tried to work out these probabilities mathematically.

@miwwdu-sitsom.bsky.socialSep 13, 2026, 10:15 PM

This is how time travel works in #TheDragonblood, where we have a pair of alternate history worlds, even though time travelling in one leaves you in that timeline and doesn't change history.

Whether it works this way in #InReverse too isn't something that gets answered.

@miwwdu-sitsom.bsky.socialSep 13, 2026, 10:15 PM

Now, general relativity conceives of spacetime as a static block universe, and the closed timelike curves that might appear in it link to the past of the same static timeline. This is how time travel works in most of my time travel stories, including #TheDragonblood and #InReverse.

#TheDragonblood: There are lots of farms in Nemoria, both for magical ferns and regular crops and livestock. Weather magic in cities diverts rain away from urban areas and towards the surrounding fields.

The growing of magical ferns is an extremely profitable enterprise.

#Septopolis 13

#TheDragonblood: Zonhaspalis is known for its wild bird meat. Whatever birds happen to fly by the floating city might end up as dinner. It's the cheapest meat available, since everything else has to be imported.

There is also some prestige in imported exotic meats.

#Septopolis 12

I promise, no 3000 word footnote this year!

#TheDragonblood: Well, #MythAugust 2025 applies, at least.

The people of Zonhaspalis worship the Nemorian gods, but are mainly devoted to Palnator, god of travel, construction and flight, and patron god of Zonhaspalis.

@miwwdu-sitsom.bsky.socialSep 12, 2026, 4:34 AM

#SeptemberWorldbuilders 12

#TheDragonblood: Well, magical ferns don't exist in reality. They don't taste any different from regular ferns, but they replenish magic in mages and give nonmagical folk the ability to sense magic for a time.

Also, domestic mammoths.

I'm afraid this is one that'll have to be voted upon by fans.

I think Felix from #TheDragonblood was originally written with the idea of being the main comic relief character, frequently cracking up jokes.
