I've never made a purchase for myself. In fact, I've never even owned coin. Though, I did take that old blanket for myself. I was at my wits end with those chilly nights during monsoon season.

I can and often am required to function on very little sleep, and I'm expected to always keep up an agreeable and pleasant demeanor.
I was born in servitude to a system that exists through the abuse of the marginalized, desperate, and powerless. While I dream of stepping into the role of hero, I'm restricted by the circumstances of my birth and the collar around my neck. A victim of fate and a predatory system.
“Bystander, I suppose. There was a time I would have considered myself a victim, but it would have been by circumstances and events rather than someone consciously doing something to make my life more difficult. These days I try not to worry about things like that.”

"...seriously?
Nobody calls me the world's most famous super bystander or victim or whatever. I go out and find dickhead criminals and like, kick their teeth in. If there's anything left of them, the police take 'em to jail and give me high fives an' shit.
I'm a damn hero!"

"Certainly not the hero," Tiferet scoffs - then pauses, her expression turned solemn. "I'm fighting out of spite, to survive. I'm...a monster who happens to be on the side of good. A monster shaped by the world I currently serve." She shrugs. "Nothing noble about it."

I think everyone is all of those things, in a sense.
I am undoubtedly the hero of *my* story, and I'm doubtless the villain of Elaine's. I'm a victim and survivor of her abusiveness.
I'm little more than a bystander, though, 🧵
Charlie:
Is there like a secret fourth option? Like 'outsider' or something? Bystander implies the normal average person. Im none of that.
I try to be on the side of the good, though. Not, like, the government (I mean, they write my checks, but fuck 'em, really.)
I mean...

"I think 'tis well-established that I am through-and-through a villain, #QueerCharChat. In fact, I strive to be THE villain: the very best and worst villain of this story, isle, and world.
Tho' I cannot at this time elaborate on what I mean by 'villain', as that is, as they say, a ſpoiler. ☺️"
Wilken:
Pfft. I am no hero.
Nor a victim.
Sometimes I feel like a bystander, sometimes a villain.
Ilak:
(Rushing in)
Alright! I am sick of this! You are my hero and I will not hear another word about it!
Wilken tries to speak and Ilak shushes him and then leans down for a kiss.

The general consensus amongst the mortals and even the non-mords is that we are villains.
It’s not fair though because infernal law is to not interfere in mankind’s affairs.
We don’t make people sin, we just punish them when they get here.
So I guess I’m a bystander…
Lu (25): I'm just... here, I guess? I know people would classify me as a 'victim'. My sisters and Sorrel tried to explain that once to me and Sid, and I don't think I've ever seen Sid that pissed without at least saying something. He just left. When he came back ⬇️
Kyoka: "That's... a big question. I'm trying to be a hero, of the options listed. I don't think I get to make that choice, though. From a certain perspective, I was a villain for a long time, but it was really just about a perspective shift. I'm glad to have the perspective I do now."

“Despite the horrible injustice of being dubbed a side character, your boy is absolutely hero material! Well, maybe hero in training!”
“I’m just a bystander. But Spiral… Her plans for New Ambros will help so many people. It’ll change the world! And what she did in Vigaras…”
Jane suddenly becomes quieter, her eyes filling with worry and regret. “She’s a hero…”

hero in a few other people's stories. I'd like to think I've done enough good that there are people who think positively about my contribution to their lives. I like to believe I'm the prize in Bryn's story, because he's the evidence I fucking won life in mine.

I'm just a person. I'm not a victim or a bystander. I tend to believe I have more agency than that. I need to believe that.
I'm sure I'm the villain in some people's stories, my parents spring to mind, and possibly an ex or two. I hope I'm at least a contributory

Betti: I'm certainly no hero, that's Handsome's role. Sometimes a villain, frequently a bystander/observer. I worked for the assassin's guild for decades, I've done some really awful shit.
Kalua: But you retired from the guild.
B: Yep. But I'm still never going to be a hero
