Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme from Rob is #Redheads, any bird with Red on its head or beak and the Alt is #Gull.
No surprise that my first choice is a #Robin #ForJanet. Also a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a Goldfinch and a Black-headed Gull.

Yes, it's a European Robin with red on its chest but, crucially for today's theme, also on its face. You don't see many Robins on my posts, normally. I don't tell fibs, either.
Camera: iPhone 15 Pro.

A red-bonced young Great Spotted Woodpecker getting in some practice at the garden bird feeder.
Camera: Canon EOS 400D digital Tamron 55-200mm lens.

A red-masked Eurasian Goldfinch sits on the metal perch of a seed feeder at the top of my garden.
Camera: Canon EOS 400D digital Tamron 55-200mm lens.

A Black-headed Gull, looking a bit sinister. Probably planning a raid on the nearby cafe.

Rob chooses today's #BirdOfTheDay theme of #Redheads, any bird with a Red on its head/beak.
The Alt theme is #Gull, any Gull will do.

Red-Bellied Woodpecker for main.
Laughing Gull is ALT

#birds #naturephotography #ECK #photography #ForJanet #wck #florida #birdphotography #ukbirding #Nature

Red-Bellied Woodpecker, clinging to the underside of a dead tree, while hunting for tasty snaks. Brightly lit, the texture and rough features of the dead tree can be seen. The bird is a smaller size, white under, black with white stripes on back and wings. red cap, extending down the back of neck. Slight orange tinge to cheeks stubby black bill. Smooth short feathers on head, unlike the tall punk-rock Pilated Woodpecker's stand-up hairdo.

Laughing Gull, standing in shallow tide wash with a bit of shelled creature in it's beak. left side to camera, head held high. Black legs, lighter brown tones throughout back and wings and head. Black eyes, black beak.

The #BirdOfTheDay theme today is #LightAndShadow, any bird capture that has both. The alt is #FallBirds, any Autumn/ Fall bird captures.

Here’s a beautiful little Robin for the main theme.

#ForJanet
#Birds #Robins #Nature #Garden #BeautifulBirds

A Robin stands on a fence top with its body slightly turned away from the camera.
Its head is slightly darker than the rest of it as the sun hits it.
The background is a mixture of little branches and leaves.

@atlanticbirding.bsky.social's Alt #BirdOfTheDay theme is #Scruffy; any bird looking a bit worse for wear.

This end of summer Robin isn't looking its normal tidy self.
