Samira was raised by an aunt in one of the villages of the kingdom until she was a teenager when she was sent to be apprenticed as a Healer in the capital. I /think/ said aunt dies during the beginning of the rebellions, but I haven't figured it out yet.

The village itself is close to one of the planet anchoring roots/branches on the huge Worldstree and thus gives a lot of varies animals to hunt

Roland's the youngest of seven. His mom died when he was ten, so he was raised by his father's family, mostly.

He grew up in a tiny town in Mississippi in the late 1800s and it sucked. (especially being the only "girl" of the family, having a preacher for a dad, and racism.)

The main character is Marga. A tall and broad shouldered redhead. She takes pride in her physical strength and is always down to spar with someone.

She has a complicated relationship with her parents and refuses to have a complex relationship with her partner, Ever.

For my #FirstDraftFall story, I have an ensemble cast, because I'm me.

The first third-ish of the book focuses on Jeri the botanist visiting the planet Zada.

Then we go off-planet and the POV switches to Renard the fox and his family.

In the end I would consider Renard the "main" character.

Jevin has a passion to teach a love of music. He also happens to be an assassin. These two interests often intersect.

This time around, he's teaching at a music summer camp when a team comes to kidnap some of his students.

Definitely mapping out my Love Interest revenge scheme (think of it as his major subplot in his character arc). Wish me luck in bringing it together and having it his not reflect at least parallel the main plot. #FirstDraftFall

More on the love interest's backstory + how his wider revenge arc (modelling it a bit off THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO by Alexandre Dumas). Also, while I have the major plot beats down, I'm working in a dual-pov format, so plot figuring out plot + pacing is paramount for storytelling #FirstDraftFall

THE STAR BARON'S HUSBAND is a steampunk fantasy webserial that'll serve as a larger body of work. TBSH will be divided into different volumes separated by story arcs. So the diff between Arc 1 and Arc 2 would be similar to diff seasons of an ongoing TV show.
