first day without Astros baseball, ugh

let's start off with something positive, Astros Future has their Astros Minor League All Stars

Yeah, the writing was on the wall with this #Astros squad.

An 81-81 record, inconsistent pitching and offense..and because of that, they get swept the White Sox in the Wild Card round.

Drastic changes definitely need to be made, from the roster down to the front office.

Joe Espada doesn’t know if he’ll return as the Astros manager in 2027 with his current contract set to expire. One thing Espada knows for certain: he’s grateful for his nine years with the Astros.

So, this #Astros season is officially a wrap.

Time to focus on the #Texans. Then I forgot those bums are 0-3 right now to start the season.

🤬🤬🤬

Who knew you can’t stitch a championship roster together with street free agents, questionable international signings, and bad trades?

We will soon know how well Crane learned his lesson (I’m skeptical). His choice for #Astros GM will reveal his willingness to change. Sycophant or proven winner?

Yeah, this squad was tough to watch at times. And, the way the season ended definitely sucked.

But still, I enjoyed talking and live-posting about the #Astros on here.

I’m not entirely disappointed at how the WC series ended. It was good for Jim Crane to see the results of his always contending strategy. There were many empty seats, fans booed subpar performance, and the #Astros were outplayed in every phase of the game.

And like that, the 2025 Houston #Astros season is over.

Why do I enjoy seeing the #Astros lose so much?

At the end of each season I like to post this short essay. I think it lends a little perspective to losing.

As important, it also manages to mention that we are bound by a common love of the sport.

I tip my cap to the #WhiteSox. They ended the #Astros season with a 7-3 Game 2 #ALWildcard winner 2day. Chase Meidroth with a BIG 3 run homer. That fan base should be proud.

Pretty sure Carlos Correa doomed us when he paired barefoot with Mattress Mac. 👎😢🤬

Despite the freakish division win, the team was mediocre this year on and off the field. I don’t condone fans booing the home team, but I understand their frustration.

We don’t want more tired metaphors about open windows. We want better baseball. We want #Astros baseball.

It’s time to rebuild.

If I was GM
- trade all assets except Yordan
- only trade if it is a high return for Wesneski, Blubaugh, Cam and Ullola

- trade for prospects, once you get rid of Pena and Brown there is no winning for the next two years
- GM is given full control of the team

okay, you want some good news, it is subscription only, but one of the better baseball sites, The Dugout Dynasty, just came out with it's October top 500 MLB Prospects. The good news, three Astros in the top 82 and Albert Fermin is getting there

Things got heated in Houston. ⚾ Astros players openly criticized their own fans after being booed and seeing a disappointing playoff crowd during the loss.
