Haha my cousin once wrapped a fish tank (complete with live fish and water) as a Secret Santa gift! We ended up opening it and the fish was our pet for 3 years lol. #writestuff

Bad starter, most likely. The car presumably got there recently, so they aren't likely completely out of gas, and the engine is probably still warm. If it didn't start again, it's likely to be a bad starter or solenoid.
