My husband's job tends to wake me up and toss all my plans into the backseat. Sometimes that means I'm heading to Savannah (like when I took this)—other times, I'm baking bread. At least the day is open, with room to write.

The first word that comes to mind isn't always the best. During a micro edit, pause over nouns and verbs. Are they the right ones?

When editing, look at every “very”, “really”, “quite” and “just”. Does the sentence need it? If it can survive without it, delete it!
