I went backward through more than a decade of CIG’s own Squadron 42 material looking for what changed.

Instead, I kept finding the same ideas.

That leaves a much harder question, and development videos can’t answer it. #starcitizen #squadron42

After going through CIG’s older material and then jumping forward six years, several of the core ideas were still being described.

So Monday we move to the question the archive can’t answer:

What can’t you know about Squadron 42 until you actually play it? #starcitizen #squadron42

I went six years forward in CIG’s Squadron 42 archive looking for what had changed.

Player choice. Stealth. Reactive AI. Seamless transitions. Characters living around you.

A surprising amount of the original vision was still there.
But videos can only tell us so much. #starcitizen #squadron42

Yesterday we looked at the player agency CIG described for Squadron 42. Today adds the other half of that early vision: performances happening around the player in real time.

Which part of Squadron 42’s original vision should we examine next? #Squadron42 #StarCitizen

Gary Oldman. Mark Hamill. Gillian Anderson. John Rhys-Davies. Andy Serkis.

Squadron 42 assembled a remarkable cast.

But the more interesting story is what CIG was trying to do with their performances once they entered the game. #Squadron42 #StarCitizen

Which part of the 2017 vision matters most to you today: different ways to approach missions, optional crew relationships, or keeping control during cinematic moments?

We’re going to test that old vision against what CIG showed afterward. #Squadron42 #StarCitizen

In 2017, CIG explicitly said Squadron 42 wasn’t meant to be an on-rails shooter.

The Vertical Slice showed something much more ambitious: a cinematic campaign where players could choose how they approached missions.

Is that still Squadron 42 today? #Squadron42 #StarCitizen
