Went with 'fancy' since I didn't have any 'deluxe'. Have to work on that. 🤔

Here's some of the band meeting for breakfast at the hotel they are staying in.

CW: Sexual innuendo about what Rachel and Candice were up to

Screenshot of a work-in-progress manuscript with the word 'fancy' highlighted.

Among the crowd I spot a little table with AJ, all cleaned up and ready for the day as usual, and Rachel, leaning on the table half-awake and wearing the tell-tale sunglasses-at-breakfast of a hangover.
At least this continental breakfast has eggs, bacon, and even a waffle-maker. Fancy stuff. I grab some eggs, give in to temptation for some bacon, balance that out with a banana, and some milk, then sit down with AJ and Rachel.
“Good morning, Dad! How’re you doing?” AJ asks.
“I’m apparently doing better than Rachel. Long night?”
“Ugh, haven’t partied like that in a while. Then I was up most of the night eating Candy.”
AJ spits out a mouthful of orange juice all over his cereal. The glare he throws her way could have killed a lesser being, but Rachel just smiles and pats him on the back, chuckling to herself.

I'm pretty sure I've never used this word, but I've got the vibes!
from Into the Darkbower, my scary dark fantasy

“I haven’t been in the room yet, Lieutenant Inquirer.”
“You’ve been here three days!”
The wizard opened his mouth to respond, but one of several uniformed grunts waiting in the background, stuck standing out in the rain, intervened. “He gets close enough to touch the door, he faints dead away, Lieutenant Inquirer, sir. Didn’t seem smart to carry him inside and wait to see if his brain come out his ears.”
There was a fleeting pause, then Idril said, “I see.” It was all he said, and the rain fell thundering into a void where a huge amount of noise was palpably not being made.
Substantiated. That rare, precious, terrifying word. That’s what I call substantiated, Esmerelda had thought at the time. The world was rife with rumors of wizardry and creatures of the Beyond, and the overwhelming majority of the work the SOUI did was to prove how rarely such things intruded into the mundane lives of human beings. To be first on the scene to investigate a disturbance of this sort confirmed by an accredited wizard might be a once-in-a-lifetime event.

#Sniptober day 5!

Going with Backlash (Winter's Wrath Book 1) for this, with a synonym since I went through several books and didn't find delux anywhere! lol

A high end model on a tour bus is truly experiencing 5⭐ luxury 😂

#WritingCommunity #SnipShare

“Danica’s shoulders lifted slightly. “I guess. She gave him the third degree about the tour, but it wasn’t too bad. He made it clear I would be fine. Actually, he made the bus sound better than a hotel.”
“He did?”
“Clean sheets? Meals on-the-go? This is going to be awesome!” The twinkle in her green eyes told him she was teasing. He let out a sigh of relief and she laughed. “I don’t expect a luxurious ride, but he did tell us enough that Sophie isn’t worried and I’m pretty sure I can tough it out. I’ve never seen the inside of a tour bus, so who knows? But my grandfather had a mobile home for the first few years after he got his property, so I grew up in small spaces. He built a nice little house now, so I’ve been spoiled for a bit, but I’m used to finding my own space when I need it.”

Deluxe is a type of pizza, yes? (Sorry no 'deluxe' in TY4LM😅)

And our boy Dylan has capital T Thoughts about his school's pizza~

#TY4LM 🦈

Monday came and so did lunch. We were having pizza that day, but calling it by that name was an insult to actual pizza. I don’t know who decided that a soggy cracker drizzled with tomato juice and topped with cheese byproduct that more closely resembled moist construction paper than anything that could be derived from a cow should be called ‘pizza’, but they deserved the most severe-ist of punishments for toying with so many children’s hearts at lunchtime.
By the time my class was let into the cafeteria, the purple-haired girl was already sitting by herself at the table she always sat at. Good. If I sat there before her, she might see me and shy off elsewhere. But if I waited for her, people would notice. People notice, rumors start. That was the kind of attention I didn’t need. Not that they wouldn’t notice me going to sit with her now, but ‘weird kid sits with loner’ rumors are leagues different from ‘weird kid waited for loner girl and THEY SAT TOGETHER ARE THEY DATING?????’ rumors. They were definitely more tolerable, that’s for sure.
I grabbed my tray and shuffled through the line. When my time before the lunch staff came, he slapped a rectangular slice of ‘pizza’ on to the main dish section of my tray with a pair of tongs. There were three things wrong with this situation. One: real pizza comes in isosceles triangles with one rounded edge because they start as a circle. Two: who uses tongs to serve pizza? And three: it made a sound I can only describe as a wet hand slapping Jell-o when it was applied to my tray. I tried to hide my disgust with a forced smile. The server’s face remained devoid of anything resembling emotion as he prepared another ‘pizza’ to inflict on his next victim.

I swapped today’s word deluxe for plush instead. CW: mention of alcohol consumption

Im so happy that so many people are playing #Sniptober with me! Thanks for being here.

With a few hours still stretching ahead before the evening’s big event, they decided on a late brunch adventure in the heart of the Gayborhood, a place that always hummed with vibrant life and welcoming energy.

They wandered side by side into a cozy little cat café tucked between rainbow painted storefronts, the air rich with the scent of freshly brewed coffee, sweet pastries, and the faint musk of curious feline wanderers weaving between tables. Plush cushions and soft jazz created a sanctuary from the city’s bustle, and the pair settled into a sun dappled nook, their spirits lifting as a parade of cats curled lazily around them.

Lunaris shoveled down a warm, crumbly gluten free blueberry muffin with a delighted grin, savoring each bite like a small victory, while Rae indulged in the café’s signature lavender mimosas, her laughter bubbling with mischief and warmth. Hours stretched, tender and unhurried, a perfect pause before the whirlwind of the night to come.

no deluxe, but luxurious! This is our first time seeing Betti, our recurring annoying minor antagonist. I love him. (and a part I've edited, based on the font XD)

#Sniptober

“Oh my, what a handsomely rugged doctor. Have you seen these two? I’ve heard they were around this area.” The man had long, luxurious blond curls and ice blue eyes framed by long, dark lashes. He carried a bag that looked heavy, which probably explained the dragging noises on the roof. He held up a poster of a poorly drawn caricature of Loke and Magnar.
“I can’t say that I have. But if I do, whom should I contact?” Dias wanted this character to leave them all alone, but he sensed this was one of those persistent types.
“You don’t have to worry about that, handsome. I’ll find them. And when I do, I will DESTROY them.” the last part of his sentence was about two octaves lower and with a biting tone in stark contrast to the previous light hearted tone that he now returned to using. “Have a pleasant evening!”

Slip faces temptation

“Well, anyway, if you stayed here it would stop this from happening to you again,” Alison gestured to Slip’s protruding ribs. “If you wanted. We could take care of you.”
Slip tried to resist the tug that had on her. She had already had these stupid thoughts back in the water world and look how that had turned out. She should stick to the path, like Stitch said, not let herself be fooled.
She couldn’t help it, though, she let herself wonder what that would be like. To just belong to one body, one life. It would hurt less. It would spare her whatever awful death she’d been running toward all this time. Really, why was she being so difficult? Whatever Alison needed from her, it would be worth that, wouldn’t it? Right now she was full and warm and those weren’t things she’d ever been for long periods of time.

#Sniptober "belong"

from A Prayer for the Pirate Queen 🏴‍☠️ 💜 ⚓️ currently in third draft revisions

"And I got Kallista hurt. Just like you worried about."

Iona straightened up again, folding her arms. "And then you fixed her. Have you learned your lesson yet, Philistos?"

"Yes, First Mate."

"And the lesson was...?"

Geni's heart sank and her throat tightened. This was what she had let herself in for. This was a family, and one she wanted to belong to, even if it meant some of the hardest work she'd ever have to do in her life. Not mention the way she had to keep swallowing her pride. "'Get with it'. You meant for me to get with how the Paxos works. And I get it now. We all have to pitch in and do our part, or else we're all of us dead."

"Good. You get this one freebie. Next time Kallista is hurt on your behalf, then I start lining you up for a long walk off a short plank. We savvy?"

"Yes, First Mate."

Here’s actually a snippet Ive been recently stressing about (dont even @ me about telling, not showing. Baby steps!)

Trying to tell reader that Charlie longs to belong somewhere, while her inner monologue is trying to convince her it doesn't matter.🤦‍♀️😅

perspective for the oversight committee. Without Percy, its been harder to convince them of the value. Jack can’t carry the unit himself and there have been few suitable candidates. Not many people have the qualifications you have or the… drive.”
Charlie wasn’t sure she liked the undertone of that last statement. It sounded like a compliment, but she wasn’t sure it was a position most people were driven to fill. Now she wondered if she should have listened to her gut in the first place and rejected the offer to drop her life in Cornwall for the mysterious opportunity in London. It had been for the best, she reminded herself. Georgie deserved that promotion and certainly this would suit her just as well as her previous post. As much as she’d loved her time in Cornwall, it wasn’t where she belonged. If this didn’t work out, there would be other suitable posts. It was a big city

I 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 like working on my dream sequences.

#WritingCommunity #SnipShare

Glasset looked different than I remembered. Deep brambles and thorns along the path wove a tapestry of regret.

I need move. I don’t belong here…

The cloudless sky thundered at me for a sin I could not remember. My body felt strong yet hollow, an entire ocean filled with only a single drop.

One foot in front of the other is all I need.

Tears from the forest, as course as sand, failed to echo through the quiet trees, their blacked bark stifling the air. The path was painful, but I accepted the burden with unfeeling grace.

"I opened my journal, and began to write." Is a line that is repeated as the ending to many chapters throughout the story.

#WritingCommunity #SnipShare

But somehow, I slowly managed to open my eyes, and push myself back up. For the first time since the tragedy in Vizthara, I felt compelled to record what had happened.

I rummaged through my bag and pulled out my journal. It’s roughly textured cover reminding me of home, when Lusana had first handed it to me. Things were so simple back then.

In a land of darkness and shadows, I sat alone on the small bed in the safehouse.

I opened my journal, and began to write.

#Sniptober Apparently, I used "belong" only once each in both of my WIPs. :'D Here's the better instance, a little bit of fun from the third chapter of Beeslingers:

Bly coughed. Then laughed. Deep and rumbling and with no actual emotion behind it. He raised both hands in what looked like a gesture of surrender.

Until, that is, he dropped, body dangling from nothing at all, like a marionette.

“You don’t know what you’re meddlin’ with,” he growled. His mouth barely moved, yet he spoke clearly, as if something hidden in his throat were speaking for him. “That bee belongs to a very powerful man. You best take her home and leave her there if you know what’s good for you.”

“My son has expressed his intent?”

Blushing, Tharaiyelagh clasped his hands between his knees. “He…yes.”

“And?”

Tharaiyelagh searched for the right words. “I belong to Lord Baleirithys,” he said at last.

The king of the Second Sphere held him with a level gaze. “In what regard?”

Blair screwed up her face for a moment. “No. I don’t want to die. I’m prepared to die. I’m a hunter. That’s always a possibility. And you’re greater than any opponent I’ve ever fought. I’m prepared to die. But-” She faltered.

The countess raised an eyebrow. “But?”

Blair considered lying. But she found the words slipping out anyway. “I’m prepared to die. I’m not prepared to see Nadia die.”
The countess laughed, her voice echoing off the walls. “Oh dear. You’re smitten. And here I thought to seduce you myself. And instead, I’ve had you seduced by proxy. What are we to do?”
Blair didn’t answer. And the two walked on. After a prolonged silence, Blair spoke.
“Aren’t you going to try and break me, tonight?”
“I have never been trying to break you,” the countess said. “I have been trying to trap you. And so I have. I did so without realizing. But you stand here, trapped. You belong to Nadia. And Nadia belongs to me. You are already mine. Now, I can afford to take my time.”
Blair scowled. “I don’t think Nadia belongs to you.”

⟁⟁⟁
With the evidence of their ceremony removed and the villagers finding places to get a little comfortable, Loke sat on a bench on Magnar’s porch. It was a nice view, but she wondered if it would look different if there were actually crops to harvest.
Blu was heading toward the house when he spotted Loke sitting on the porch. It took a moment to recognize her since she was neither in her normal clothing or the ceremonial clothes she had just been wearing. Asimple long sleeved dress made Loke look matronly. “That ceremony was amazing. Do you mind if we talk a little?”
Loke moved her book from the bench and shifted to the side to make room for him. “Of course.”
“Are those new clothes?” Blu asked as he sat beside her.
Loke gave a nod. “My clothes were still drying on the line when I finished the ceremony so Magnar gave me these to sleep in. I wonder if they belonged to his mother or a sister. Anyway, what’s on your mind?”
