Silence fills the room
A whisper lost in stillness
Breath becomes the sound

Thanks to @rjrock.bsky.social for original photo. See ALT for details.

Using Snapseed, I cropped the original to make it more intimate. I decreased the brightness, the contrast, the ambiance, highlights and shadows. I increased the saturation. With the Details tool, I decreased the structure and sharpness. I increased the inner vignette brightness and decreased the outer brightness. Back on iPhone, I increased noise reduction.

The first chapter was about surviving the Machines. In “Silence,” Mind Incision decide it’s time to understand them.
The second part of their three-film saga turns resistance into reverse engineering.

I struggled a bit with this one, much like last time we did #Silence

Black and white photo of Santa Cristina Gherdëina in Italy. The village appears silent, with nobody on the streets and no cars on the roads. The only signs of life are a few lights coming from buildings, and lights on the exterior of some buildings, the brightest of which illuminate the exterior of the Parish Church of Santa Cristina. The photo was taken by @rjrock.bsky.social and was processed by me. The image was edited in Darktable… I cropped the image to focus on a small portion of the village to eliminate parts of the village in which people could be seen (hopefully I’ve removed them all?!), to give the village a sense of silence. Then I upped the exposure a little in the Exposure Module (only the tiniest smidge, so little the slider barely looked to have moved) to make as much of the village visible. Then I activated the Colour Calibration module and converted the image to black and white, going against my usual norm and using the Fuji Acros 100 preset for once, because it gave, to my eye, the most pleasing results. Then I activated the Denoise (profiled) module. Like the exposure module, I only moved the strength slider a smidge. The reason being two fold—if you go too far the image becomes soft, or even outright blurry, and—very much a personal preference thing, but—I don’t like all the noise to be digitally removed, to me images feel kinda soulless when that's done.

Rock @rjrock.bsky.social give us a new photo for the #Postprocess with the theme #Silence #ECK I found it difficult what to do with the original photo from Rock. I only use #Snapseed to edit my photos on my phone. Still not so happy with the sky. Let me know what i could do better🙏

Rock give us a night photo to play with the theme silence. I have only Snapseed on my phone to edit my photos. I this i have use different settings from cropping to play with light and shadow. Using some hdr. But still not so happy with the sky here.

A few takes on the latest @rjrock.bsky.social #PostProcess challenge, finding #silence in noisy twilight. Not convinced any of my attempts are great, but what does stand out, the amazing detail captured in the Leica's image. Crops and #ClassicMono cuts abound for me.

Cropping in on the town in the image, with its church on the right and stepped horizon climbing left to right and a tall traditional roofed alpine style building with 4 stories in the center. Moved the contrast to be a little softer, and forcing the sky/land divide to graduate, and a little rotation to prevent the church looking askew. All in black and whiteLooking down the valley on the left of the image, with its distant ranges of hills. Reducing some of the foreground contrast, boosting the distant hills to make them better layers, with some gentle retouching of some bright lights that would steal attention. Left in gentle near golden hour tonesLooking to the mountain above the town in the image, and its tree line climbing as the horizon from left to right; forcing it into silhouette against the dramatic sky, lowering that sky drama a little and moving everything into blues, with just a touch of clear sky on the bottom left.Minimal amount of cropping on the base image, just the immediate foreground removed, preserving a few of the plants. Lot of dodging and burning in black and white to try to preserve the composition but removing some of the dissonant elements by moving it all black and white, toning down the cloud drama, toning down the town highlights, bringing up some of the structure in the bottom left valley and the hill above the town
