My answers will be funny b/c one of the primary families r The Dark, i.e. the Herrera family. I created Blue Horizon during peak emo era circa 2005.

The Herrera aren't personally afraid of the dark, but they do go thru it psychologically for generations.

They fight thru it! #SeptemberWorldbuilders

Maria has a clear pretty umbrella with reddish pink flowers strewn on its sections open above herself and her twin Mario. The day is bright and blue and they are upon a green hill; the white clouds tower behind the green hill. Maria has dark falling long hair, slightly messy bangs and red eyes with a careless smile on her. She wears her usual dark dress with fluffy sleeves. Mario wears a dark shirt and a dark binder underneath; buttons are teal. He's smirking with a slight look of amusement; he has a red rose in his hand that he might be thinking of giving away. His hair is dark and very short in a stylish, choppy way. Both twins' irises are red.

For sailors + fishers the Shrouded Seas can be like Ponyo.

Blue Horizon delves a lot into ocean-bearer families & how they ensure safety + thwart danger. (Tsunami, lighthouses, etc.)

(Or are scary.)

Thankfully in Blue Horizon's society the Chandrani fam are assumed weak. 😄 #SeptemberWorldbuilders

The main generation (the younger generation) of the Chandrani family with a lot of blues. It's Fernando Chandrani-Rivera, Raj Rivera, Farrah Chandrani, Layla Chandrani and Antonio Chandrani-Rivera.

So I think of humans on planet Imion as humans. 100k years prior on Earth, Elementals were once known as superheroes...

Anyway, essentially these characters are like demigods, and the Chandrani are THE MAIN FAMILY. OCEAN FAMILY. Yeah. They throw ocean water around a lot. #SeptemberWorldbuilders

In Re: Shattered Memories, there's the Omenthief of Khemer, who is the anti-god of darkness.

They have irregular tides! On planet Imion the tides are unlike Earth's, since there are a rainbow of 6 moons around it--an ocean world ~2x the size of the Earth.

While it's majorly unexplored, the Chandrani get annoyed by questions re: the oceans bc to them it's regular. #SeptemberWorldbuilders

Blue Horizon has traditions up the wazoo near the Shrouded Seas. This is b/c the Psyche, monsters born of their otherworld called the Boundless, encroach when the fogs roll in.

Big tradition is "not let the Psyche get to land." The Chandrani live in a specific locale for it. #SeptemberWorldbuilders

This question is good for me bc Blue Horizon's cast lives 100k years in the future on a planet far away... It's called Imion.

And they have A Few weird things down there! They even have weird merfolk. Don't want to spoil too much. Have only created a few creatures at whim. #SeptemberWorldbuilders

#SeptemberWorldbuilders Supervillains are forced to live inside bunkers so they can plan their nefarious schemes in peace while the city upstairs keeps getting destroyed, and as their profession wants, these places are very badly lightened.

It was only much later that Seladion became associated with the full moon and Amaurodios with the new moon. Again, the chief light/dark belief is that the moon is Argyros and its gates open and close with the phases. Darkness is an absence of the divine.

Orthodoxy believes in The Pause, the silence between non-creation and the sound of creation.

Theologians try to argue that all 3 are possible at the same time, but the Ember Covenant and Temple of Ostuna cannot see eye-to-eye on it.

Just a little one for today.

Some people in the 5GC make Neitche-inspired jokes about looking too long into the darkness.

They mean it to be a reference to sky-craving (wanderlust) but little kids don't know that and think it means there be monsters.

I'll let Loke and Blu explain the legend of Light and Dark spirits...

#SeptemberWorldbuilders

“Not really a battle, but certainly some conflict. The darkness was envious about how much the people loved and worshiped the light and shunned the dark. Dark wanted to be appreciated, but took it too far. Because neither can exist without each other, they fought endlessly with no clear victor, which is why we have half a day of light and half a day of darkness. But dark always was resentful. Even today, darkness isn’t appreciated as much as the light is and is often taken for granted. According to the story, dark somehow was able to engulf light’s core. Light had enough love and admiration that no one would notice for eons that it would eventually fade.”
“That’s quite a sad tale. I feel a little bad for dark, but that wasn’t a good thing to do to light, either.” Blu was following her story as his eyes moved along the murals. He was able to see most of it as she told the story.
“That’s largely the sentiment, except the story does continue and not a lot of people remember the rest of it. Light vowed get their revenge as well and cursed Darkness that if the light core were to ever burn out, the darkness that overtook everything would be a darkness that would destroy the world and there wouldn’t be anyone to worship anything.”

Basically, the formation of the universe is:

-The Light
-The absence of Light acts like a 2nd force, Dark, and the two "fight"
-The resulting "clash" of Light+Dark gives rise to the foundational aspects of existence
-Those aspects + Light & Dark give rise to everything else

Please do not ask anyone if the creation myth is about light and darkness because you will be there for hours and come out more confused.
There are also elemental gods or light and dark (shadow? Again don't ask if you don't want a debate).

27: In Karnassia (co-created with @jmaxwell-author.bsky.social), there is a strange overlap in the myths of the Valestrals and Hrothians that darkness was what existed before the emergency of the gods, both having a somewhat overlapping view that in the beginning, there was..

Mairth doesn't actually have any creation myths to speak of. Due to their love of empirical science, it's widely accepted in most circles that the universe started the way that ours did - with a big bang. This is also 🧵

Archangel Uriel, Angel of Darkness, had to take on Light as well when Lucifer Fell. It’s a whole thing. He refers to Lucifer as “that absentee jerk”…which to me is very funny coming from the oldest of the angels, an unknowable force with nebula eyes.
