Yellow branches
into orange and pink~
the hands of sunrise

which one of us is stranded?
all I know is
you are unreachable

reality cannot
give me peace
I would make fantasy
a refuge
but the story of us
is in pieces
as elusive as quicksilver
in my grasp

perhaps
if each morning
I could sew
a little more
of the tapestry

I could keep the faith

#sensewrds 273 threaded, scattering, daybreak

Needlepoint sunlight—
dawn is a prism.
Green flash,
embroidery sky.

The dawn’s light
spread like a yarn
ball unraveling,
spreading a warmth
upon the land.

Plaid of green and gold
And strands of black fertile earth
Where pumpkins dot the land
Mystery braille cypher
In deepest orange
Cold nights have come
And the moon is fattened
September whispers
To the ghosts of October
We've missed you
So glad you're coming home

Black window to gray
Morning reflects off the house next door
Lumbering pickup ready for work
And the children
And shouting
"but what about?"
"don't forget!"
Hurry unto the day
Leave a trail of breadcrumbs
Stitch together your safety net
By the time streetlights blink on
Come back

Stitched together tight
in a bed as cold as stone
my waking thoughts
all those I used to love
all dispersing around me
As the new day opens
all seems so distant
and too many memories surround me

Sewn into the dawn,
Gathering birdsong brushes
Away the darkness.

Where my pen went today

to memories of Gordon Lightfoot
the feelings I got listening to
Early Morning Rain in 66
and now its 2026
60 years later
kids all grown up
and the old life
long since faded into new beginnings.

Poem: empty nest
Early morning light,
golden highlights on cloud
breaking up and scattering.
The jet's contrails connects wisps,
the needle of an invisible hand
swiftly patterning the sky.
She bore them, we raised them,
now, as their time has come
ours fade into new beginnings.

…
backgrounded on a beige bamboo screening.

#sensewrds 272 patterned, reminiscent, field

These weren't random. And yet, almost immediately, she'd forgotten them, utterly.

Sometimes a memory would fly at her, out of the air, and she'd catch it with one hand, bringing the ball close to her face.

She only has two hands, for too many balls.

#Sensewrds prompt 272.
In the September sunshine, he looked down at the landschaft of England, a vast tapestry of green and gold. Entranced by the beauty, he didn't see the spitfire. Sudden, immense pain.

Birkenhead
…
the skirts of the Argyles
in rhythm to the marching pipes
trod the village green
the memory of their fallen
alive in their comrades minds
