It's the first NFL Sunday of the 2026 season so it's only right that this week's #ScanlineSunday is NFL Blitz for PS1! With today's more sanitized, image-conscious NFL, it's unlikely we'll get such hard-hitting, over-the-top arcade gridiron games like this again. #gaming #videogames #nfl #retro #ps1

NFL Blitz started out as an arcade game developed by Midway that presented a more exaggerated take on American Football, much like how NBA Jam had done the same for basketball. It was eventually ported to home consoles like the PS1 and Nintendo 64. It is well-remembered for its fast-paced gameplay and its VERY loose application of the rules, allowing players to dish out vicious hits to each other, even after a play, with no penalties. Again, some multiplayer games on Gamecube for today's #ScanlineSunday
Timesplitters 2, I had a blast on this one thanks to the 4 controller ports on GC, solo game is quite good too, each level had its own atmosphere.
Also an involuntary nod to @houseplantsinvg.bsky.social in the first photo.
