Excellent evening at Richmond Cricket Club on Tues 23rd Sept - Kathy Clugston and Rob Stepney talking about their new book 'Good. Occasionally Rhyming' - a love letter about the iconic Radio 4 Shipping Forecast.
Another triumph for Richmond Walking & Book Festival

It was a great honour to open the twenty first Walking and Book Festival.

The opening event was by Asad Qureshi. He spoke about his experience in 165 days under The Taliban.
The large audience were left stunned by all he went through and how it has affected his life.

The Mayoress and myself were fortunate to be in the group visiting Richmond Castle, in particular the cells where the Conscientious Objectors were held in WW1 and others in the Second World War.We were given a most interesting talk on the graffiti by Kevin Booth,English Heritage.

It was a pleasure to meet Mark and Deborah the new proprietors of Greyfriars Cafe, along with waitress Ellen. Situated in the Greyfriars building, the seating area is situated in a large spacious room. Dogs are allowed on a short lead. The menu is varied, with a good choice.

It was lovely being able to attend a packed Fleece for their MacMillan Coffee Morning. This event was organised by Isabel the Hotel Manager, whose mother sadly died of cancer three years ago. Last year a thousand pounds was raised. This year hopefully more.

RDTN was humbled and privileged to meet listener Paul Hutchinson with Leanne today and to give him one of our tablets as his old one had broken. What an affirming experience.
