Honestly? I can say it certainly has given me relief & a safety to express my interest in queer relationships. I've been repressing them for so long/taught that it was wrong. But now it feels liberating

Yes.

I came of age in the late ‘90s and early 2000s and had to search for scraps of queer rep of any kind. And I was shocked by the lack of diversity in the stories I read.

So, I decided to to change that by writing my own stories filled with Black and brown queer peeps. #queerprompts

Yes. Once I got myself unknotted, there were huge gaping holes of neglected feelings that seeking out queer fiction is helping heal

Honest answer: no. Unfortunately the world is at a point where fiction in general can no longer help my mental health. I love it, don't get me wrong. But I don't read it for my health, mental or otherwise.

Absolutely. I started reading queer books secretly in high school and it helped me understand so many things about myself that had been eating away at me.

@vampireantihero.comOct 10, 2026, 4:18 PM

#QueerPrompts I would say so, yes.

@authortgjoye.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 3:26 PM

It certainly does! Reading about queer and trans people just being people (and not relegated to subtext) helps me feel more normal, less alone, and more empowered to fight for my own right to exist. #QueerPrompts

At first I was going to say "no," but I realized that wasn't true. All the different queer books have helped me normalize queer joy. That's been important.

VERY MUCH SO! I lived in a very conservative place where we just didn't talk about that stuff at all so my world really widened when I found queer rep in books and other media

@sadiehepworth.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 2:24 PM

Absolutely! I came out at 39 and also, being bi, have never felt like I truly fit in anywhere. But positive queer rep in books and media has been a lifeline for pretty much my whole life and has helped me understand so much about myself.

Oh, def. Seeing queer people in queer media made me feel less alone growing up. (I wasn't a hundred percent sure why at the time, since I didn't come out until I was 22, but yeah...)

Definitely. I was raised to believe being anything but cis and straight is a sinful choice and that others hurting me for being different was my fault. Reading stories where queer people are fully accepted by others and themselves was revolutionary.

#QueerPrompts October 10:

Very much so. I grew up around a lot of homophobia, and in high school it was horrific. Even defending someone labelled as queer meant being a target, and I got in fights constantly. Some words still make me cringe because they were thrown at me and my closest friends so

@mcwrites27.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 8:51 AM

Incredibly so. I grew up in a small Southern town where being out was genuinely exhausting. It was often that my only comfort or feeling of understanding was between the pages of a book or comic. It's why I'm so passionate about access to queer books for any age. #QueerPrompts

DEAD BEATS as a horror novel:

The Murderbot Diaries constitute a significant portion of my comfort reads, so that’s probably a yes.
