Summary: Each place he had stopped had its stories, tales of a gorge that had always been a little eldritch, always temperate and still, always a little too quiet. A place that seemed a little unmoored, with its placid air and its strange, silent tower, even before the fissure had filled with black fog. And Jayce had drunk these tales down like fine spirits, the warning excitingly sharp on his palette, overshadowed by the decadence of his own eagerness.

He looks out over the silent canyon, the glittering, atramentous fog, and finds both the dread and the enchantment in his heart to be as vibrant as ever.

More the fool him.
