Unnoticed moment
A deliciously wicked
Velvet evening
After the first frost settles
And all belong to silence.

A beat of wings
In the depths
Caverns by the benthic
Of a roiled sea
The poison thoughts
Of ancient days
An outpouring tide
Those mean meant wishes
Of trogloditic things

Good morning, writers! In the mood to write something strange? Descend with us into the weird.

Here is today's #WeirdMicro prompt:
Troglodytic things

Write a tiny tale or poem. Whatever the void demands. Combos are encouraged!

Crawling from the cave,
Blind eyes, blink at the dark—
When all light dies out.

...forever. So much to explore that will never be. And soon, those doors will have vanished, too.

This is not autonomy.
It is madness' reign.

Me?
I'm wilting by the window like a forlorn houseplant.

Glittering hokum,
All the troglodytic things
That keep us stupid.

Sin, wrapped in silk,
My sweet poison in your glass,
Drinking to her name.

...a life less significant than a robin's.

I stand petrified as, with a loud crash, the wind smites the third tree from the left. By now, my cosmic daydreams have left, as well.

I want to leave.
But I cannot move.

Paradoxical.

Every day in this town it was like a macabre masquerade, with each decoration carefully crafted by hand and the displays perfectly organized, showing off the skills of each resident.

Violet was in a state of scorched innocence, and the childlike wonder she held onto was being stamped out, no longer holding the shape it used to, which forced her to change who she was.
